Buffalo Mills

I found it hard to picture how massive the Buffalo Mill was when it operated. The two towers are difficult to locate in relation to the imaginary building I conjured up for this place. The array of cement pads gives insight into what once was, but it wasn’t until I saw photos that I understood the gravity that was Buffalo Mills. It is undeniable that a building with such a presence would serve as the center point of rotation in every sector of life. The amount of pride that must have filled those floors. Hundreds learning a craft and perfecting it day in and day out, hundreds knowing their tool, their station, and their job like it was their first language. The amount of skill performed every hour that those clocks ran is astonishing.

Buffalo Mills was built in 1901 and closed in 1994.
